Akshay Suri was the ideal son that any parent could have wished for. He loved spending time with his father. His wife Tanya was equally supportive and understanding. All three of them loved going out and enjoyed each other's company. Soon, Tanya gave birth to twins (a boy and a girl) and their happiness knew no bounds.
As time passed, the demands of parenthood started increasing. Tanya and Akshay had to return to work to deal with the burgeoning expenses. They worked as architects in a well-known firm. They hired a full-time maid who could take care of the twins. The arrangement was perfect. Akshay's father was happy supervising the house and the maid.
However, fate had other plans in mind. Akshay's father was diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease. He started forgetting small things and sometimes even wandered off on his own. Initially, the maid that they had hired for the twins looked out for Akshay's father. However, as the disease progressed, Akshay's father became increasingly irritable. One day, he was walking on the road and was about to be hit by a speeding car but Nikhil, Akshay's neighbor saw him and pulled him in the nick of time.
Akshay and Tanya were in a dilemma. They loved their 'papaji' but it was becoming difficult to take care of him. He needed a nurse to help him with his daily chores around the clock. He could not be left on his own because he had a tendency to wander around and had become more and more accident-prone. Nikhil understood their predicament and suggested that they admit Akshay's father to an eldercare home. But Akshay wouldn't hear of it. He felt that by admitting his father in an eldercare home, he would fail as a son. The word eldercare home for him was an old age home that he had seen earlier. How could he send his father there to a life of pity? He also feared that people would berate him for being an ungrateful and insensitive child.
When Nikhil saw Akshay and Tanya struggling with taking care of their children and Akshay's father, he decided to take the matters into his own hands. One day, on the pretext of an outing to a beautiful mall Global Foyer, he took them to visit NEMA Eldercare Home situated very close to the mall. It was a grand building with a large yard in front. Initially, Akshay was reluctant to even step out of the car but on Nikhil's repeated requests he relented to check out the facility.
Akshay just could not believe his eyes. He started crying when he saw the care and love provided to seniors in NEMA Eldercare. He saw trained staff taking care of the elders who were happily playing games and passing time. A NEMA employee was talking to an old lady who was telling him about her daughter who lived in Australia and visited her once every year.
Tanya and Akshay decided to check out everything about NEMA Eldercare. They talked to friends and family and found that many busy couples and NRIs who could not take care of their parents for some reason or the other had chosen NEMA Eldercare for their parents and were happy with the choice they made.
After a lot of research and consultations with friends and relatives, Akshay admitted his father to NEMA Eldercare. Now he visits he and Tanya visits his father now and then. His father is not only better and happier but he has also found friends of his age who love spending time with him. Being close, his father attends all family functions and calls NEMA his home now. Akshay feels that admitting his father to NEMA Eldercare has been one of the best decisions of his life to ensure his father's wellbeing, health, and happiness!
